Is this a welcome?

Journal Entry 65

August 15th, 2006

"1553"

Enough.

Got home 2 hours ago. After entering the USA on my 30th birthday, I took Greyhound (6 buses, 36 hours) from the Mexican border to Granite Falls, then a 13 mile (20 km) walk home, the last 2 of which I hitched with an old-timer. Followed by a stroll (and stopover at a swingset in the park) through the old haunts of my childhood, before surprising my parents.

I haven't been neglecting anyone (specifically). Haven't checked email, even from family and closest friends, since I left Turkey in January. The next couple weeks I'll be going through the 100's of messages and trying to get back in touch...

Call me--I'd love to hear from everyone. I'll be at my parent's place in Montevideo for the foreseable future.

I always hoped I'd reach a point when I had enough, and that I'd recognize it. I did, and I have.

Now what? Please don't ask. I need a boring life for a while. A full-sized towel. The same bed. Warm showers. A kitchen and refrigerator. Parents. My rocking chair. A large selection of machine-washed clothing. Even Lucky, my parents' annoying little Chihuahua, might be welcome.
